  3. After a wonderful weekend with the mother-in-law,

Analiese and I are chilling before dinner, tumbling, listening to Margot and the Nuclear So-and-Sos with some nice new incense burning on the windowsill.

It really was a good weekend, that featured pancakes at Cozy Corner, gigantic burgers at Kuma’s, a bit of tourism rubbernecking at Hard Rock Cafe, Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. We’re both tired, but in a good way. It’s good to have a mother-in-law that I don’t hate.

  14. Biking in the city is wonderful.

It’s green, it’s the last word on cheap, and it’s healthy too. Biking is good.

A lot of bikers in the city are good too. JUST NOT ALL OF THEM.

The road was originally built for motor vehicles. Crash reports are designed with motor vehicles in mind. So are the street markings and traffic controls. Bikers are guests. We should treat them with respect.

They should also treat cars with respect. That means either behaving like a pedestrian OR obeying 100% of the rules of the road. Most bikers do stupid things like ride in the middle of the lane much slower than the speed limit or cut through traffic controls without stopping or make illegal turns. That’s not cool. That will get you or someone else killed.
